Simply put

It's retarded, it's a waste of resources, money, the troops time and lives for countries that we shouldn't give a shit about.

Pull everything out and hold a big middle finger to the middle east except israel. That's what i think

Agreed, but that's about all I can say without sounding like a total idiot.

I agree, especially with our fiscal house in shambles back here at home, it is probably a good time to rethink what exactly our policy in the Middle East should be.

Iraq, yes, it was stupid in the first place, we never should have gone. Afghanistan, i think we need to pull out in the scheduled time frame. If they can't hold it together without us, they never will. The tragic mishandling of both wars by the Bush administration set us back a long way, but it is time they fend for themselves.

I disagree that we shouldnt give a shit about them. One of the things about being a superpower is that suddenly everything is our business. We don't have a choice in the matter. Everything everywhere is our business. If you want to believe in American Exceptionalism, then you cannot be an isolationist. The opposite is true as well. In an age where news travels across the world in seconds, we have a responsibility as defenders of freedom and justice to do our part without violating domestic sovereignty of other nations. I think the wars haven't been a total waste, since they have contributed to the Arab Spring events we are seeing today. We showed the people that the tyrants over there are not invincible.

Though i cannot stress enough that this is my personal opinion, and in no way reflects the positions of the United States Marine Corps.

I work in Public affairs, so i dont want anyone to take my personal opinion as a matter of Marine Corps policy. Can't be too careful.

Damn, that stinks. I could never be a spokesperson for anything or anyone.

Either way, we need to get out of here, especially since we have our own economic troubles back home.
